Financial Aid Information

FEDERAL PELL GRANT – The Federal Pell Grant Program provides non-repayable grants to undergraduate students who are determined by the Federal Government to be in need of financial assistance to meet educational expenses.

TENNESSEE STUDENT ASSISTANCE AWARD – A grant for qualifying Tennessee residents funded through state and federal appropriations and administered through the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation, Suite 1950, Parkway Towers, 404 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN  37219-5097.

FEDERAL SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY GRANT – A federal grant program for students with exceptional financial need.

FEDERAL WORK STUDY PROGRAM – Students with an established financial need may work 10-15 hours per week at a rate established by the college.

FEDERAL STAFFORD LOAN PROGRAM/GUARANTEED STUDENT LOANS – Long-term, low-interest, educational loans available through participating banks for students with established financial need.

ADDITIONAL GRANT SOURCES – Many students receive assistance through Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Security, Veterans Benefits and Department of Human Services Programs.  Contact the appropriate agency for information.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid or complete on-line at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.

  • For a Pell Grant
  • For a Tennessee Student Assistance Award (TSAA).  There is an May 1 deadline; however, students should apply by early March to meet this deadline.
  • For a Stafford Loan, complete the section requesting Stafford Loan information.  Obtain a Stafford Loan application from your bank or Financial Aid Department.  Take the completed application to the Financial Aid Department for certification.  The application will be mailed to the bank of your choice for final processing.  More information may be obtained from your bank, lending institution, or the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation.

Students who have received financial aid at another post-secondary educational institution need to contact the Financial Aid Department prior to registration.
