REPORTING SENIOR: Dean of
the Technical Education Division
JOB OBJECTIVES: To provide leadership and management of the
Center for Workforce Education in providing services and training to
jobseekers and employers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee CWE staff to deliver coordinated services to job
applicants and employers.
- Assist with the development and oversee delivery of WIA programs
and services for employers and job seekers in the Center for
Workforce Education.
- Work with the CWE Employer Committee and the WSCC Technical
Education Division to develop and implement jobseeker and employer
programs and services, including training programs.
- Assist in developing and administering grants to fund CWE
services.
- Work with the Dean of Technical Education and industry advisors
to develop and implement industry-driven curriculum.
- Oversee the design and maintenance of record keeping systems and
provide necessary reports.
- Assist in planning and implementing evaluations and continuous
improvement systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing public relations and
marketing plans.
JOB STANDARDS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, education, industrial technology
or related field from a regionally accredited institution, Master’s
degree preferred.
- Minimum three years significant management or supervisory
experience in delivering Workforce Investment Act services.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community college staff and
faculty, and familiarity with the community college philosophy of
education.
- Demonstrated ability to provide organizational leadership for a
diverse group of employees with separate funding sources.
- Demonstrated ability to focus on jobseeker and employer needs.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, and implement innovative
programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work with employer groups and agencies
in a team-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize Microsoft Office software.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and
in writing.
JOB LOCATION: The primary job location is the Center for
Workforce Education at Walters State Community College in
Morristown, Tennessee. Some travel throughout the ten-county service
area is required. Other travel may be required outside the service
area.
EQUIPMENT: Primary assignment includes the operation of
standard office equipment (telephone, calculator, audio-visual and
computer equipment. Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to provide services to
employers and jobseekers.
- Ability to work as a team leader, including working with
customers.
- Ability to plan and implement a project.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Marginal tasks performed include the
operation of standard office equipment such as typewriter, fax and copy
machine.
SALARY: Negotiable, in accordance with the salary guide of
the college and individual qualifications.
