New reflecting pool at Sevier County Campus named for Ogle

Thanks to the beneficence of Mrs. Wilma Maples of Gatlinburg, students attending the college’s Sevier County Campus now have a large reflecting pool to sit by and study and Sevier County residents benefit from the enhanced beauty of the new cam-pus. The reflecting pool was named for Ephraim E. Ogle, one of the Smoky Mountains’ pioneers. Ogle was the grandfather of Maples’ late husband, Rel. In recognition of the Maples’ long history of substantial financial support for Walters State, the college also named the first building on the Sevier County Campus, Maples-Marshall Hall, after them. The building was also named for Mrs. Reese Marshall Ripatti who donated the 67 acre tract of land that became the campus.
