Tucker named All-American in golf
Senators golfer Jon Tucker earned All-American honors at the NJCAA Division II Golf Tournament, which was held in May in Texas.
Tucker, a Gatlinburg-Pittman graduate, led the Senators with a four-day total of 291. That was the tenth best score in the 134 player field. Tucker’s final round 70 was the team’s lowest score of the tournament.
As a team, Walters State finished 11
th in the national tournament.Baseball and softball
The Senators claimed the TJCCAA Eastern Division baseball crown for the first time in a decade-and-a-half.
Coach Ken Campbell’s squad finished the season with a 44-10 record, one win shy of the school’s all-time victory record. The Senators were ranked nationally for much of the season, climbing as high as number four in the country.
The Lady Senators posted a 27-15 record. Coach Larry Sauceman’s team finished third in the TJCCAA east.
