The office of Academic Enrichment provides administration and leadership for the college's Learning Support program and Honors program relative to meeting the institution's stated mission. These programs are guided in meeting the specific academic needs of its student constituency by a well-defined statement of purpose consistent with the overall mission of the college.

It's important to note that this department operates in a decentralized manner and is seamlessly integrated into both academic and student affairs units.

English as a Second Language

English as a second language studies

ESL Studies provide support to non-native English speakers. Students can book advising appointments with Michelle Mitrik for course guidance and access to tutoring and other resources. Peer tutors are available to assist with language-related issues, including essay support, reading difficulties, language practice, and more.

Honors Program

Walters State's Honors Program offers high-achieving students an exceptional academic experience with dedicated faculty focused on excellence in teaching and service. This program is for motivated students with outstanding academic records seeking intellectual challenges. Accepted students will complete honors assignments in select courses within their program.
