Coach David Shelton is in his 10th year of collegiate baseball coaching. Prior to coming to Walters State he served as an assistant at East Tennessee State University for 5 years. Coach Shelton played college baseball at Milligan College where he is among the career leaders in many offensive categories. Coach Shelton serves as the Recruiting Coordinator at Walters State while coaching the hitters and outfielders. During his 5 years at Walters State, Coach Shelton has recruited and coached 28 players that have been drafted by Major League Baseball Teams. Shelton also serves as an Associate Scout for the Atlanta Braves.

Coach Shelton graduated from Milligan College in 1998, earning degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science. Shelton earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from East Tennessee State University in 2000. He is married to the former Stefanie Reynolds and they reside in Fall Branch, TN.
