Baseball Belts 12 Homers In Twinbill Sweep
MORRISTOWN, Tennessee — Students at Walters State had to avoid baseballs flying out of Senator Field Tuesday afternoon.
The No. 2 Senators walloped 12 homers in sweeping a doubleheader from Roane State by the scores of 9-3 and 13-3 in six innings. For the season, Walters State has now swatted 92 homers.
With the twinbill sweep, Walters State is now 34-6 on the season.
In the first game, freshman Kyle Koeneman and sophomore Adam Milligan each launched a pair of homers for the Senators. Freshmen Dylan Pratt and Cody Hawn each hit one round-tripper.
Pratt also had a double and a single for the winners. Sophomore Jack Snodgrass (4-0) went six innings, giving up two runs on three hits while striking out five and walking three.
The second game saw Walters State smack four consecutive homers in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the game to an end via the slaughter rule.
Sophomore Adam Stooksberry homered twice and singled twice, driving in five runs in the nightcap. Koeneman homered and singled twice while Pratt, freshman Jon Dalton and freshman Myles Cordell also belted homers.
Milligan finished the second game with a triple and a double while freshman Chad Hunter singled twice. Freshman Spencer Clifft (3-0) worked 3 2/3 innings to earn the victory.
Walters State returns to action Wednesday when they travel to Milligan College for a single nine-inning game. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
