Bell Hurls Senators To Tournament Win

COLUMBIA, Tennessee – Freshman lefthander Chad Bell scattered five hits to go along with a career-best 15 strikeouts as the No. 2 Walters State baseball squad dropped Southwest Tennessee, 4-3, early Sunday morning in the NJCAA Region VII tournament hosted by Columbia State.

 

With the win, the Senators pushed their worksheet to 48-7 and meet Chattanooga State Sunday at 8 p.m. eastern time.

 

Bell, now 11-1, didn’t walk a batter in winning over Matt Ince, who fanned 11 hitters in a losing effort.

 

Freshman outfielder Will Skinner slapped out three singles and drove in a pair of runs for Walters State. Freshman Dylan Pratt added three singles, sophomore Adam Stooksberry doubled and singled while sophomore Nick Langley singled twice. Adam Milligan, another sophomore, extended his hitting streak to 19 games with a single in the third inning.

 

Matt Dangar homered and singled for Southwest while Devin Hicks also homered.
