Koeneman Ties Season HR Record
COLUMBIA, Tennessee – Freshman sensation Kyle Koeneman tied a school record with his 26th homer of the season as the nation’s second-ranked baseball team, the Walters State Senators, advanced to the championship game of the NJCAA Region VII tournament with a 7-3 win over Dyersburg State Monday night.
Koeneman is now tied with Tary Scott (1984) and Greg Ehmig (1985) after swatting his round-tripper in the third inning. Koeneman also had a double and a single in the victory.
Sophomores Adam Milligan (21-game hitting streak) and Adam Stooksberry each doubled and singled for the Senators while freshmen Chad Hunter and Will Skinner each singled twice.
Sophomore lefthander Jack Snodgrass (6-0) turned in his best performance of the season by working 8 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on four hits while striking out a season-high 11 and walking four.
