DIVISION I CO-PLAYERS OF
THE WEEK

Jesse Wierzbicki and Kyle
Koeneman
Catcher & First Base, Walters State
Community College (Tenn.)
No. 2 Walters State won four of five scheduled
games last week thanks in part to the explosive
hitting by the freshman duo of
Wierzbicki and Koeneman.
The two combined to hit eight home runs and 15
RBI over the five game stretch.
Wierzbicki, a freshman catcher from
Newnan, Ga., was 10-13 at the dish, including
two doubles, three walks, four homers, seven RBI
and two stolen bases. He hit two dingers in an
11-0 triumph over Tusculum College on March 24
and then again belted two homers on March 28 in
a 16-3 victory over Region 7 rival Volunteer
State. Koeneman, a freshman
first baseman from Seymour, Tenn., was 10-17 for
the week with two doubles, two walks, four home
runs and eight RBI. He belted his four home runs
over the first Senator victories last week,
including two Ruthian blasts in a 11-0 win over
King College on March 26. Koeneman
also had four RBI and three runs scored in the
victory. The freshmen duo are a big reason why
the Senators are in the midst of a 30-6 campaign
as they combined for 60 RBI and 19 home runs
this season. |
