WSCC Golf Team Places 2nd In First Tournament
PINEVILLE, Ky. – The Walters State golf team opened the 2008 spring season with a second-place finish in the Union (Ky.) College Invitational at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course.
The Senators finished the rain-shortened two-day event with a team score of 465, six strokes behind Mount Vernon Nazarene out of Ohio. The University of the Cumberlands finished third, followed by Tennessee Wesleyan and Spalding (Ky.) College.
Walters State freshman Luke Fullen finished tied for second with a score of 113. Fellow freshman Josh Jeffers tied for fifth at 115, sophomore Darius Hoese tied for 11th at 118 while freshman Bowin Newgent tied for 15th at 121.
The Senators return to the links March 8-9 in the Tusculum College Invitational at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville.
