For Release: IMMEDIATELY
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lady Senators’ defense out paced the Patriots JV team offense as the Lady Senators rolled to a 75-40 win at the University of the Cumberlands Tuesday. The Lady Senators improve to 5-1 (1-1), and the Patriots JV go to 0-3.
Nakisha Strickland led Walters State with 12 points. She was 6-8 from the field. Rhon’Neisha Taylor added 10 points. Megan Rollins returned to the Lady Senator’s bench after breaking her hand in a preseason scrimmage. She had seven points with a pair of 3-point goals.
"This was a good workout for us," said head coach Dave Kragel. "We got a lot of players in the game, and got a lot of things done. Cumberland stayed in a zone defense and we were able to work on different looks in a zone."
Brittany Lewis led all scores with 15 including three 3-pointers. Melanie Smith chipped in six points.
The Lady Senators will be in action again Friday Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. when they host the Lady Generals of Jackson State on Pride Night. The Senators will take the court following the women’s game at 8 p.m.
