Garrett, Lady Senators Dispose Of Cleveland State

MORRISTOWN, Tennessee – Sophomore forward Dana Garrett (Woodland, S.C.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the No. 15 Walters State women defeated Cleveland State, 61-44, Wednesday night at 'Z' Buda Gymnasium.

 

With the victory, the Lady Senators improved to 18-3 overall and 6-1 in the Eastern Division of the TJCCAA. The Lady Cougars fell to 13-5, 4-3.

 

In addition to Garrett's performance, sophomore center Nakisha Strickland (Brainerd) added 11 points and six rebounds. Rhon'Neisha Taylor (Maplewood) pulled down nine rebounds while Jasmin Coleman (Georgetown, S.C.) added eight as Walters State won the battle of the boards, 59-24.

 

For the contest, the Lady Senators were 25-of-73 from the floor, including 3-of-12 from 3-point distance, for 34.2 percent while making 8-of-14 from the foul line.

 

Kanita Holloway led Cleveland State in scoring with eight points.

 

Walters State returns to action Saturday with a road game against Chattanooga State. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
