Lady Senators' Hoop Season Over
SALINA, Kan. – A fantastic season for the Walters State women’s basketball team came to an end Friday in the NJCAA national tournament at the Salina Bicentennial Center.
Western Nebraska received a game-high 22 points from Emma Beddome as the Lady Cougars held off several late rally attempts by the Lady Senators to secure a 55-54 victory.
Walters State closed out its season with a 30-6 worksheet while Western Nebraska (32-5) plays Sheldon (Ala.) State Saturday for seventh place.
The Lady Senators were led in scoring by freshman Allysia Bailey with 17 points, 10 of them coming in the second half. Sophomore Jasmin Coleman, in her final game in a Walters State uniform, netted 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Lady Cougars also got 14 points from Tawny Drexler.
It was the final game in Walters State uniforms for sophomores Coleman, Dana Garrett, Tiffany Travis, Nakisha Strickland, Megan Rollins and Sienna Forney.
