Lady Senators Defeat Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Walters State Lady Senators improve their record to 3-0 with a 71-56 victory at Spartanburg Methodist College Tuesday. The Lady Pioneers fall to 1-2.

Nakisha Strickland led all scorers with 17. The sophomore was 6-9 from the floor and 5-8 from the charity stripe.

"We played well in a tough place to play," said head coach Dave Kragel. "We were tested tonight." Dana Garrett finished with 14 points, and Rhon’esha Taylor had 13. Taylor hauled eight boards to lead the Lady Senators in rebounds.

India Belton led the Lady Pioneers in scoring with 16. She was 5-12 from the floor with three 3-pointers. She was 3-3 from the charity stripe.

The Lady Senators travel to Dyersburg State on Friday and Southwest Tennessee State on Saturday. They will play at home Friday, Nov. 16 when they will host the Lady Generals of Jackson State on Pride Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
