Softball Announces Recruiting Class

Larry Sauceman, head coach of the Lady Senators softball team, announced his 2007-08 recruiting class. He signed 13 players retaining only two players from the last season.
“I feel really good about this class,” said Sauceman. “We will have a lot of depth this season. We signed players who could play multiple positions. This will give us a lot of options when we get to the season. I see great things in our future.”
With the loss of the TJCAA player of the year Elisha Collins who signed with Carson-Newman, Sauceman signed three catchers. Ashe County, N.C. native Tiffany Jones was all conference. Gina Lofton went to West Rowan High School in Salisbury, N.C. and was the county player of the year. Kristin Kirk was all conference at Knox-Karns.
Sauceman signed five pitchers during recruiting. Alyssa Shoun of Johnson City was all-conference and all-district. Crystal Watson was all-conference at Johnson County High School. Shelly Fagg of Maryville was all-county, all-district and all-state at Heritage High School. India Ellison of Morristown-Hamblin East High School was all-conference and all-district. Brittany Hill went to Union County High School and was all-district and all-region.
New to the infield will be Britani Fisher of Science Hill High School. She was all-conference and all-district. Kristen Delapp went to Knox-Gibbs and was all-Knoxville Interscholastic League and all-state. Brittney Furr of Concord, N.C. was all-state, all-conference and played in the North Carolina’s all-star game.
Outfielder and Morristown-Hamblin West High School standout, Brittany Dixon, was all-conference and all-tournament.
The Lady Senators are currently in fall scrimmages and will begin their season in February of 2008.
