Softball Splits With Cleveland State

MORRISTOWN, Tennessee – Freshman hurler India Ellison (3-2) twirled a three-hitter as the Walters State softball team defeated Cleveland State, 8-0, in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday at the Lady Senator Softball Complex.

 

In the opener, the Lady Cougars slammed three homers en route to a 4-3 win. With the twinbill split, Walters State is 14-9 overall and 3-1 in the TJCCAA.

 

Sophomore Miranda Tounzen singled three times in the second game in support of Ellison. Freshman Kristen DeLapp doubled twice, freshman Gina Loflin singled twice while sophomore Lauren Mynatt doubled.

 

The first game saw freshman Alyssa Shoun (6-5) allowed just six hits, but three of them traveled out of the park. She finished with nine strikeouts.

 

Loflin had a double and a single for the Lady Senators while DeLapp also doubled.

 

Walters State returns to action Wednesday. March 26 at home against Spartanburg Methodist in a doubleheader. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
