MORRISTOWN, Tennessee -
Walters State's softball team collected a split of Tuesday's twinbill
with Virginia Intermont at the Lady Senator Softball Complex.
The Lady Senators, now 9-4
on the season, rolled to a 7-2 decision in the opener before watching
the Lady Cobras rally to win the second game.
In the first contest, Alyssa
Shoun returned from a back injury to capture her fourth win in five
decisions this season. The freshman righthander allowed two runs (one
earned) on three hits while striking out four and walking two.
Sophomore Lauren Mynatt
homered and singled for the Lady Senators. Freshman Gina Loflin added
two singles while fellow freshman Brittany Dixon doubled.
The second game saw Walters
State three outs away from a doubleheader sweep before the Lady Cobras
struck for two unearned runs in the seventh to earn the split.
Loflin and freshman Britani
Fisher each had two singles in the loss for the Lady Senators.
Freshman Brittany Hill (2-2)
picked up the pitching loss in relief of starter India Ellison.
Walters State is back in
action Wednesday at home against Joilet (Ill.). Scheduled start time for
the twinbill is 2 p.m.
