Softball Sweeps Roane State

MORRISTOWN, Tennessee – After going 0-4 in the Wallace (Ala.) State Invitational over the weekend, the Walters State softball team bounced back with a pair of wins Tuesday at the Lady Senator Softball Complex.

 

The Lady Senators (13-8) used strong pitching performances from Alyssa Shoun and Brittany Hill en route to 6-1 and 3-2 victories over TJCCAA rival Roane State in the conference opener.

 

In the opener, Shoun (6-4) went the distance, giving up one run on six hits while striking out seven. Shoun helped her own cause by adding a single and a double.

 

Sophomore Miranda Tounzen led Walters State with two singles and a double.

 

The second game saw Hill twirl a complete-game six-hitter in improving her record to 4-2 on the season.

 

Shoun along with fellow freshmen Gina Loflin, Kristen DeLapp and Britani Fisher each had two hits in support of Hill.

 

The Lady Senators return to action Thursday at home against Cleveland State n a TJCCAA twinbill. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
