Fisher Swings Big Bat For WSCC Softball
CLEVELAND, Tennessee — Freshman shortstop Britani Fisher had a terrific day with the bat as the Walters State softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Cleveland State Tuesday afternoon.
Fisher and Miranda Tounzen each had four hits in the first game as the Lady Senators earned a 5-2 win. In the nightcap, Fisher had three hits, including a homer, but Walters State fell to the Lady Cougars, 5-4, in eight innings.
With the split of the doubleheader, the Lady Senators are 23-12 on the season.
In the opener, Fisher had three singles and a double while Tounzen singled four times. Freshman Brittney Furr smacked a two-run homer.
Winning pitcher Alyssa Shoun (11-6) gave up five hits in earning the complete-game win.
The second game saw Fisher finish with a homer and two singles but it wasn’t enough to keep Cleveland State from splitting the twinbill.
Gina Loflin added a double for the Lady Senators. Shoun (11-7) picked up the loss in relief of freshman starting pitcher Brittany Hill.
Walters State returns to the diamond Friday in a TJCCAA doubleheader at Motlow State. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
