Lady Senators Split Twinbill
MORRISTOWN, Tennessee — The Walters State softball team bounced back from a tough defeat in game one of Friday’s TJCCAA twinbill against Volunteer State to earn a split at the Lady Senator Softball Complex.
In the first game, the Pioneers cruised to a 10-0 decision in five innings before the Lady Senators rallied to take a 6-2 victory in the nightcap.
Walters State, with the split, is now 28-13 overall and 11-3 in the conference while Volunteer State is 19-15, 8-4.
The first game saw winning pitcher Abby Mabry allowed two hits — singles to Brittany Dixon and Kristin Kirk — in gaining the mound win over Alyssa Shoun.
In the second game, the Lady Senators tallied five runs in the sixth inning to erase a 2-1 deficit.
Freshman Brittney Furr had a double for Walters State while Dixon, Kirk, Kristen DeLapp and Britani Fisher each singled.

The Lady Senators return to action Tuesday in a TJCCAA doubleheader at Hiwassee. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
