Softball Nets Road Sweep
TULLAHOMA, Tennessee — The Walters State softball team collected a pair of TJCCAA victories over Motlow State Saturday afternoon.
In the opener, freshman hurler Alyssa Shoun tossed a one-hitter as the Lady Senators cruised to an 8-2 decision. The second game saw Walters State bounce back from an early deficit to earn a 4-3 win.
With the twinbill sweep, the Lady Senators are 25-12 overall and 8-2 in the conference.
Shoun finished with eight strikeouts in the opener to improve her record to 12-7 on the season.
Freshman Britani Fisher had two doubles and a single for Walters State, fellow freshman Brittney Furr homered and singled while freshman Kristen
DeLapp chipped in a double.
In the second game, Kristen Kirk had two singles while Miranda Tounzen doubled in support of winning pitcher Brittany Hill (8-3). Shoun relieved Hill in the sixth inning and picked up the save.
The Lady Senators return to action Tuesday in a TJCCAA road doubleheader at Roane State. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
