Softball Season Over For WSCC
COLUMBIA, Tennessee —The 2008 softball season came to an end Monday for the Walters State Lady Senators in the NJCAA Region VII tournament hosted by Columbia State.
The Lady Senators, in their first game of the day, suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Columbia State. Walters State returned later in the evening to fall to Motlow State, 4-1.
In the Columbia State contest, freshman Brittany Dixon doubled and singled for the Lady Senators. Fellow freshmen Britani Fisher, Gina Loflin and Brittney Furr each singled twice.
Freshman Alyssa Shoun was tagged with the mound loss. Shoun tossed 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out three and walking two.
In the game with Motlow State, Loflin accounted for the lone run as she smacked a solo homer. Dixon and sophomore Miranda Tounzen and Lauren Mynatt each singled.
Freshman Brittany Hill was the losing pitcher. Hill worked 5 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on eight hits while walking four and striking out one.
The Lady Senators finished the season with a 32-18 record.
