Softball Sweeps Truett-McConnell

The Walters State softball team recorded a doubleheader sweep Wednesday afternoon of Truett-McConnell by the scores of 7-2 and 2-1 at the Lady Senator Softball Complex.

 

In the first game, sophomore Miranda Tounzen banged out two doubles and a single for the Lady Senators, now 8-3 on the season. Freshman Britani Fisher added a homer and a double. Both Tounzen and Fisher finished game one with three RBIs.

 

Lauren Mynatt chipped in a double.

 

Collecting the mound win for Walters State was Brittany Hill (2-1). The freshman gave up two runs (one earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

 

The second game saw freshman hurler India Ellison fan 10 hitters as the Lady Senators earned the twinbill sweep.

 

The former Morristown East standout allowed just three hits and walked four in improving her record to 3-1 on the season.

 

Freshman catcher Gina Loflin had three singles and a RBI for Walters State. Tounzen chipped in three singles while Fisher singled twice and drove in a run.

 

The Lady Senators return to action Mar. 11 with a home doubleheader against Virginia Intermont. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
