WSCC Softball Splits With Milligan

MORRISTOWN, Tennessee – The No. 29 Walters State softball team opened their home schedule Thursday with a twinbill split against Milligan College.

 

The Lady Senators dropped the opener, 7-0, before cruising to an 8-0 victory in six innings. With the split, Walters State's record is now 6-3 while the Lady Buffaloes are 6-4.

 

The second game saw freshman Brittany Hill (1-1) collect her first win as a Lady Senator. She gave up a mere three hits in winning over Ryann Musick.

 

Freshmen Britani Fisher, Brittney Furr and Gina Loflin each had a double and a single for Walters State. Sophomore Miranda Tounzen added two singles while freshman India Ellison added a three-run double.

 

In the opener, Milligan's Sidney Burns allowed just four hits in tagging Lady Senator Alyssa Shoun (3-1) with her first collegiate loss.

 

Jessica Blevins led Milligan with a homer and a double. For Walters State, Brittany Dixon, Kristen DeLapp, Kristin Kirk and Furr each had a single.

 

The Lady Senators return to the field Tuesday, March 4 with a home doubleheader against Truett-McConnell. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.
