Lady Senators softball coach Larry Sauceman is entering his 18th season at Walters State, but his connection to the college was established three decades ago.
The Greene County native was a key member of the 1983-84 Senators baseball team that reached the Junior College World Series and finished the year as the nation's fifth-ranked team.
Before he arrived at Walters State, Sauceman spent one year as head baseball coach at Tusculum College. He also spent several seasons as a professional softball player, earning All-American honors with the Georgia-based and nationally-ranked Lighthouse team.
In 18 seasons at WSCC, Sauceman has compiled a 707-273 record and has coached 9 All-Americans.
Coach Mitch Taylor came to Walters State in the fall of 1977 on a baseball scholarship. After college he became a part of his family’s business and currently is part owner of two pharmacies in Morristown.
Taylor returned to Walters State in 2011 as the Assistant Softball Coach. He is involved in the day to day operations of the team as well as in the recruiting.
During his 4 years, Coach Taylor has helped in leading the Lady Senators Softball Program to over 200 wins and to the NJCAA National Tournament in 2013.
