Accounting
A charter member of the Walters State Community College faculty, Dr. Honaker began her
teaching career at Walters State in 1970, was appointed the first Business Division
Chairperson in 1972, and Dean of the Division of Business in 1998. She is a native
of the State of Virginia and was a former faculty member at Dabney Lancaster Community
College, Clifton Forge, Virginia and Carson Newman College, Jefferson City,
Tennessee. She has served as Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Association
of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs which reviews business programs of two-year
colleges and makes recommendations concerning accreditation. Experiences as a former
owner of a hotel and restaurant and manager of rental properties are utilized in the
accounting classes she teaches.
