Background
Dr. Orville Bach served four years as an Officer in the Strategic Air Command, USAF
before beginning his teaching career as a graduate teaching assistant at Auburn University
in 1974. He began teaching at Walters State in 1976. Dr. Bach has also worked as a
seasonal ranger for the National Park Service in Yellowstone and Great Smoky Mountains
National Parks for 25 seasons. He has published one book and over a dozen articles on
topics relating to resource management and environmental economics.
Dr. Bach has served as faculty advisor to the
Walters
State Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) team since its inception in 1987. The team
has won over $50,000 in cash awards in regional and international competitions and has
been named regional champion 9 out of the past 11 years. Students who complete the
requirements of a SIFE team member become "SIFE Certified" by the
National SIFE Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri. SIFE-Certified students are eligible
for SIFEs placement services, actively utilized by the hundreds of companies
affiliated with SIFE.
