The Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts at Walters State Community College is designed to transfer and meet the freshman and sophomore
year requirements of a four-year bachelor’s degree. Students will need to

Career and Major Information:
A major in Liberal Arts prepares students to think
critically with a broadened perspective of relationships in society and the
world. Communication skills and the ability to organize, assimilate, and
present information are developed and enhanced. The historical perspective
that is acquired as a result of course requirements in this area enables
students to better understand global interactions, and thus to make better
decisions. Students learn to self-teach through the development of analytical
thinking. Courses in history, psychology, sociology, political science,
geography, economics, art, music, philosophy, and others areas are offered
through colleges of Liberal Arts. A liberal arts education is considered broad
and extensive.
