degree in Philosophy. This degree is designed to fulfill freshman and
sophomore level course requirements of a bachelor’s degree; however, the

Career and Major
Information:
According to Webster’s Dictionary, one of the definitions of
philosophy explains that it is the pursuit of wisdom. Philosophy majors
examine their belief systems and the beliefs of others in order to understand
and make sense of the world. Philosophers apply critical thinking to questions
of values, and they receive a solid liberal arts education. Political and
religious concepts, ethics, and principles are based on philosophical
theories. Students are trained to listen carefully, analyze thoroughly, assess
for logic, and communicate clearly. These attributes prepare graduates for
further study toward advanced degrees or for leadership roles in business,
public service, diplomacy, the ministry, publishing, law, teaching, and natural
and social sciences.
