From the Foundation Up In four of the last five years, the Walters State Foundation has received contributions in excess of $2 million. This news was presented to the foundation trustees at the fall board meeting on Oct. 16. Trustees also learned of new gifts contributed since their last meeting. A total of $284,000 has been donated to the foundation since May. The foundation’s fund balance totals $7.4 million, even after just expending $8 million to build a new campus in Sevier County. Members established a target of $65,000 for the Annual Fund campaign, which generates funds for student scholarships and college enrichment activities. Another highlight of the meeting was the recognition of Sevier County businessmen Jim Hickman and Sidney Blalock for their contributions to the college. They were presented President’s Trust plaques.
