Tucker named All-American in golf

Senators golfer Jon Tucker earned All-American honors at the NJCAA Division II Golf Tournament, which was held in May in Texas.

Tucker, a Gatlinburg-Pittman graduate, led the Senators with a four-day total of 291. That was the tenth best score in the 134 player field. Tuckerís final round 70 was the teamís lowest score of the tournament.

As a team, Walters State finished 11th in the national tournament.

The Senators claimed the TJCCAA Eastern Division baseball crown for the first time in a decade-and-a-half.

Coach Ken Campbellís squad finished the season with a 44-10 record, one win shy of the schoolís all-time victory record. The Senators were ranked nationally for much of the season, climbing as high as number four in the country.

The Lady Senators posted a 27-15 record. Coach Larry Saucemanís team finished third in the TJCCAA east.
