From the Foundation Up

Walters State Community College continues to benefit from the generosity of East Tennesseans.

The Walters State Foundation has received over $275,000 in contributions since its annual meeting in May. This news was presented to foundation trustees at the fall board meeting on Monday, Oct. 15.

Members established a target of $65,000 for the Annual Fund campaign, which generates funds for student scholarships and college enrichment activities.

During the meeting, the foundation recognized Charles Terry, Morristown attorney and foundation president during 2000-01, for his distinguished leadership.

Also recognized for their leadership in philanthropy were Presidentís Trust members Marian E. Oates, R. Michael Fishman, F. Braxton Terry and Dr. Carroll Helm.

The Walters State Foundation, which is considered one of the most successful foundations in the country among colleges of Walters Stateís size, has a current fund balance of $8.6 million.
