General
information
College Express classes are held in five week
blocks with one class beginning immediately upon completion of the
prior class. Progress through the program is continual and fast
paced. Students required to take developmental classes or to make up
high school deficiencies may require a longer time to complete the
program or may have to take more than one class at a time until all
required work is completed. Because a significant amount of learning
takes place outside the classroom, students must be highly motivated,
independent learners. Participants will be part of a cohort of
students who are students busy working adults. Classes will encourage
teamwork and individual support as you share the experience of
learning together. Classes will be taught by committed WSCC
instructors who want students to succeed.
The program is not for everyone. An A.S. general
studies degree provides core courses generally taken during the
freshman and sophomore years. These classes may not be appropriate
for students who have decided on a specific major such as nursing or
education. All students should follow the appropriate curriculum
outline for their specific major.
What are the
program requirements?
- Preference will be given to in-state students.
- Preference will be given to students who have
completed any required remedial / developmental classes prior to
entering the College Express Program.
- Attendance at orientation before classes begin
each fall.
- Attendance at each scheduled class meeting is
required. A strict attendance policy is enforced.
- Weekly meetings (at the convenience of the
members) with your study group are required. This meeting is
in addition to the scheduled class time with the instructor.
What is the
cost?
