Walters State's International Festival began in 2004. The idea of a festival originated with a student who wanted to share her cultural background and learn about other cultures. That first one was organized completely by students with the assistance of International Club advisor Michelle Mitrik. Now, the festival features local speakers and top regional talent. Vendors bring gift items and food from many countries. The festival is open to the community and more than 1,000 people attend each year.
