When do I apply?
Question: What courses should I take first?
Answer: You need to complete BIOL 2010/2011, BIOL
2020/2021 (with a grade of "C" or better), and all
required developmental education courses. You must also complete computer
competency during first 30 hours of coursework and before applying to
nursing.
Question: What courses do I need to get into
nursing?
Answer: You must 1) complete BIOL 2010/2011, BIOL
2020/2021 (with a grade of "C" or better in all
science courses) 2) complete all required developmental education
courses 3) complete computer competency. For career mobility
students classes must be completed by end of January. Students applying
for Fall clinical admission will be ranked on classes completed by end
of spring semester.
Question: Do I need to take micro before applying?
Answer: No, microbiology BIOL 2510 must be completed before the beginning of the third semester of
clinical nursing. When 2510 is taken, a grade of "C" or
better must by achieved for admission or progression in clinical nursing.
Question: Do I need to take Math?
Answer: Yes, effective Fall 2004, nursing majors
must complete MATH 1530.
Question: Do I need to complete the general
education requirements before I apply to nursing?
Answer: No, the only required courses are BIOL
2010/2011, BIOL 2020/2021 and completion of the computer competency. After completing these
courses, you certainly are encouraged to begin taking the required general
education courses.
Question: When do I apply?
Answer: The application, which can be obtained from
the Health Programs Office Tech 104, should be filed no later than
January 31of the year the student elects to participate in the
selection process for the fall semester nursing class.
