Course Objectives

The operator will understand the fundamental knowledge of lift trucks and their functions. These fundamentals include:

 

1. The importance of OSHA compliance and prevention of lift truck related accidents.

          2. Lift truck functions.

          3. The basic principals behind balance, stability, and capacity.

          4. Pre-operational inspections of lift trucks.

          5. Safety guidelines for operating lift trucks.

          6. Safe load handling techniques.

          7. Safe handling of fuels and batteries used in lift trucks.

 

The course will be conducted in hour long sections to allow time for questions and student input. A brief video will accompany each section. A review of each section will allow each individual the opportunity to clarify any material or information. The individual sections will lead up to a skills test and final examination.

 

          Section 1 – Lift truck Fundamentals.

          Section 2 – Truck balance stability and capacity.

          Section 3 – Pre-operational inspection.

          Section 4 – Safety guidelines.

          Section 5 – Load handling techniques.

          Section 6 – Gasoline, diesel, and LP lift trucks.

          Section 7 – Battery charging and changing for electric trucks.

          Section 8 – Final exam and skills test.
