Middle School Mathematics
Competition Information
Statement of
Purpose:
The Mathematics
Division educates students in the mathematics
necessary to function in an increasingly
diverse, complex and global society. The division
provides opportunities for students to master a
body of knowledge and technical skills from the
discipline of mathematics as they develop
enhanced communication skills and mathematical
habits of the mind. The division includes a
developmental education program in mathematics.
- The division
supports program emphases in
Mathematics
Mathematics Education
Statistics
Pre-Engineering.
- The division
contributes to General Education by
enhancing student ability to analyze,
discuss, and use quantitative
information, demonstrate a reasonable
level of facility in mathematical problem
solving and recognize connections between
mathematics and other disciplines.
- The division
collaborates with the K-12 education
community in workshops.
- The
mathematics laboratory provides full-time
tutoring and access to computers and the
Internet.
