Workforce Training classes for August, September

Morristown

SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation
Students seeking credentials that focus on identifying and testing the knowledge and practical experiences needed among human resource professionals around the world. Those who earn the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credentials are recognized as experts in the HR field. This program covers four knowledge domains: people, organization, workplace, and strategy as well as eight behavioral competencies. The class meets 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Mondays, Sept. 11-Nov. 27. The cost is $1,095.

Microsoft Excel 2013 — Level 1
In this level of Excel 2013 you will learn to create, save, and print Excel documents, explore formatting tips and tricks, create formulas, enter functions, copy, paste, work with page layout features, and learn quick tips and shortcuts. The class meets on Sept. 28 in Library Room 201 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $150.

Greeneville/Greene County

• General Welding — Stick, MIG, TIG
An overview of the three welding processes with four hours of introductory training in each process. Students will become familiar with the techniques, equipment and applications of each process. Remaining course time may be used for additional training selected by the student. This course is ideal for an individual who is trying to decide on a specific career or learning path related to welding. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Aug. 22-Sept. 28 from 5-9 p.m. at Walters State’s Workforce Training Facility in Greeneville. The cost is $574.

• SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation

• Electrical & PLC Troubleshooting
Designed to help students develop electrical and programmable logical control (PLC) troubleshooting capabilities, the course covers electrical components, advanced electrical, PLC ladder logic and PLC advanced electrical troubleshooting. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 19-Dec. 14, from 4-7 p.m. at Walters State’s Workforce Training Facility in Greeneville.

• Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate
An introductory overview of the human resource function, offered in partnership with SHRM, covers the key topics needed for understanding the fundamental issues surrounding the field of human resources today. The class meets on Mondays and Tuesdays, 5:30-8:30 p.m. The cost is $465.
