Tennessee Reconnect Applications Now Available!
February 13, 2018

Walters State Community College will host three events to assist adult learners in completing the Tennessee Reconnect application, the Walters State admission application and the FAFSA.

Sessions are scheduled as follows:
•Feb. 19, Morristown Campus, 5-7 p.m. (R. Jack Fishman Library)
•March 1, Claiborne County Campus, 5-7 p.m.
•March 1, Sevier County Campus, 5-7 p.m.
•March 8, 5-7 p.m., Greeneville/Greene County Campus

Tennessee Reconnect is similar to Tennessee Promise, which guarantees Tennessee residents graduating from high school two years at a community college without tuition. Tennessee Reconnect is for adult learners, who are generally 25 and older. Parents, married couples, veterans and those with other other special circumstances may also qualify as adult learners. Tennessee Reconnect is a last-dollar scholarship, which means it pays any remaining tuition after other financial aid sources, such as Pell Grants, have been applied.
“The application for Tennessee Reconnect is very simple and only takes a few minutes. You can complete it at home or you can come out to this session if you need help or if you want more information about Tennessee Reconnect and Walters State,” said Melissa Duff, executive director of Walters State’s Student Success Center.
While completing a FAFSA is required, students do not have to show a financial need to qualify for  Tennessee Reconnect. Students must be Tennessee residents for a year, not have a degree, submit  and enroll for at least six hours a semester. The scholarship will be available to students enrolling this fall.
