Career Center Announces September Workshops
August 22, 2012

Learn job skills at free September workshops at the Tennessee Career Center at Talbott. The workshops are funded through an agreement with Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Anyone 18 and over may attend one or all at no charge.

The Tennessee Career Center in Talbott is located in the Alpha Square Shopping Center on West Andrew Johnson Highway. Workshops scheduled for September:
•Using Social Media & Professional Networking Sites – Sept. 4, 10 a.m.
•Personal Branding  with Google – Sept. 4, 2 p.m.
•Job Readiness Series Basic One (job search skills, resumes & cover letters, interviewing techniques, impressive applications) – Sept. 5, 9:30 a.m. or Sept. 20, 9:30 a.m.
•Creating Electronic Slide Presentations – Sept. 5, 2 p.m.
•Completing Electronic (Online) Presentations – Sept. 6, 10 a.m.
•Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop – Sept 10, 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.; Sept. 17, 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.; or Sept. 24, 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
•Employability Skills  1 (conflict management, teambuilding, work ethics) – Sept. 11, 9:30 a.m. or Sept. 25, 9:30 a.m.
•Employability Skills 2 (customer service, job hunting via telephone and career networking techniques) – Sept. 12 1:30 p.m. or Sept. 25, 1:30 p.m.
•E-mail Basics – Sept. 18, 9 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Internet Basics – Sept. 18, 10:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy/Electronic Spreadsheet – Sept. 18, 1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy, Mouse Practice – Sept. 12, 9 a.m., Sept. 19, 1 p.m., or Sept. 26, 9 a.m.
•Computer Literacy – Sept. 12, 9:30 a.m., Sept. 19, 1:30 p.m. or Sept. 26, 9:30 a.m.
•Managing Electronic Notes – Sept. 13, 9 a.m.
•Creating Electronic Spreadsheets – Sept. 18, 1:30 p.m.
•Electronic/Desktop Publishing – Sept. 19, 9 a.m. 
•Electronic Database Management – Sept. 26, 1:30 p.m.
•Electronic Business Project Management – Sept. 27, 8:30 a.m.

Tennessee Career Centers offer resource labs with computers, printers and fax machines that job seekers can use at no charge. Centers also provide information about the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Tennessee Technology Center, Adult Education Program, Walters State Community College and Workforce Investment are available at the center. All services are free to anyone who is at least 18 years old.
