The Walters State Office of Workforce Training will offer a 10-week phlebotomy course Aug.26-Oct. 30 at the college’s Claiborne County Campus.
This class meets from 5:30-9 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
Students will learn proper ways to collect blood specimens, including venipuncture. Through both classroom and laboratory work, students will become familiar and develop the needed skills to work in this field. Classes will cover terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, hands-on specimen practice, and clinical training. Lab assignments, work with a practice arm and live blood draws will prepare students to work as a phlebotomy technician.
