Chasity Porter is one
busy college student.
She’s now jokingly
known as Walters State’s cover girl since her picture is prominently
featured on the cover of the 2006-07 Walters State Catalog and
Student Handbook. She’s just been elected secretary of the Student
Government Association and she was a nominee for Ms. WSCC 2006. As a
Senators’ Page, she gives campus tours – one of her favorite
activities.
“I love giving campus
tours,” Chasity said. In fact, Walters State’s small campuses played
a major role in her decision to attend the college.
“Walters State is a
small college but it gives you the same things a big college would.
And it’s not so hectic here. You don’t have to walk far between
classes and you get to know your professors.
“I love the small
classrooms. It’s so much better than having huge classes,” she said.
Chasity is one of a
growing number of homeschool students attending Walters State. She
said the college is perfect for students who finished high school in
their family’s living room.
“There’s always a lot
going on at Walters State. The Word Up Club has movies that you can
watch for free on Thursdays. If you want to be involved, there’s
plenty to do as a student.”
Chasity is a
business management major and plans on finishing her undergraduate
degree at East Tennessee State University.
