East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Academy

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Walters State Community College East Tennessee Regional Law Enforcement Academy, in compliance with the Tennessee Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, is to train qualified personnel in basic law enforcement procedures and the law of the State of Tennessee.

Overview:

The Regional Law Enforcement Academy is comprised of three programs:

• Basic Law Enforcement Officer Academy – providing entry-level training for prospective and newly hired officers throughout our region.

• Specialized Law Enforcement Training Program  - which trains certified law enforcement officers in specialized and advanced subjects critical to modern law enforcement.

• Defensive and Tactical Driver Training Program - offering instruction in the operation of all types of vehicles for government, corporate and civilian drivers.

While attending the Basic Law Enforcement Officer Academy or the Specialized Law Enforcement Training Program, the attendees can earn college credit towards an Associate of Science or Associate of Applied Science Degree.
