Background:
Roger Brooks has been teaching Agriculture at Walters State since 1980 and started the
Ag Club shortly after that. Roger has always used his horses, cattle, farm, and
whatever else he has as part of the teaching program.
Roger is an active farmer raising cattle and tobacco. He enjoys hobbies such as
horseback riding, hunting and wildlife management. He has served
as President of the Hawkins County Farm Bureau and a board member of Farmers Co-op. He is a member
of the WSCC Ag Pavilion Board of Advisors, and he was voted Morristown Agribusiness Person
of the Year in 1995.
At WSCC Roger has been twice named a Distinguished Faculty Member and has also received the
President's Meritorious Leadership Award. He and wife, Karen, daughter, Laura and
son, David, live on a farm in Hawkins County where they attend Gills Chapel Baptist Church
which borders the farm.
