Manufacturers often state their greatest needs from technical employees are
strong problem solving skills. Technicians today are not asked to specialize in
one area. Rather, they are asked to have a broad range of knowledge in many
subject areas. This is what the Manufacturing program at Walters State is
designed to prepare its students for. The program emphasizes the development of
problem solving, communication, and technical skills and provides education in
the management and control of basic materials, facilities, personnel, and
financial resources. Those students that complete this well rounded curriculum
can qualify for the following types of jobs:
