Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival

The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival will visit the Walters State Community College Sevier and Morristown campuses on Tuesday, Feb. 5. All performances are free and open to the public. The Sevier County Campus performance begins at 1:15 pm in room 104 of the Conner-Short Center. The Morristown Campus performance begins at 7 p.m. in the theatre of the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex.

Lift Every Voice by Doug Floyd

A one-act presentation in drama, song, and dance that tells the story and the influence of the Harlem Renaissance (1919-1929)

Lift Every Voice highlights important cultural, artistic, and political figures and events focusing on the contributions of several key figures in the Harlem Renaissance, such as W.E.B. DuBois, James Weldon Johnson, Louis Armstrong, Zora Neale Hurston. It also puts into context the incredible influence of the Harlem Renaissance on people such as Elvis Presley, Spike Lee, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Festival of Nations


The International Education Fee Oversight Committee will sponsor a day at Dollywood's Festival of Nations in Pigeon Forge, TN on Saturday, April 13, 2013.

Current students will receive free admission for Saturday, April 13, 2013. Employees, retirees and alumni of Walters State may purchase a one-day pass for Saturday April 13, 2013 at the discounted rate of $39 (a $64.00 value). Students and employees may purchase additional passes for family members at the discounted rate of $39 for adults and $33 for a child ages 4-11.

Everyone obtaining a pass to Dollywood for this day will be expected to attend at least one of the entertainment shows being offered during Festival of Nations. The titles, places and times will be chosen from a predetermined list at the time tickets are distributed. Attendance will be taken at each show.



Vouchers for the passes will be available at any cashier's office starting Monday March 4 through Wednesday March 20, 2013.

Vouchers must be exchanged for actual tickets by visiting Eileen Bowers during the following schedule:

Morristown CCEN 100

  • Tuesday April 2 10:30 am – 12 noon and 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Wednesday April 3 9:00 am – 12 noon and 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Thursday April 4 9:00 am – 12 noon
  • Tuesday April 9 noon – 3:00 pm
  • Wednesday April 10 9:00 am - noon

Claiborne Room 112

  • Thursday March 28 from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm

The one- day pass can be converted to a season pass in Dollywood on April 13

Parking is not included. Dollywood charges $8.00 per car to park. Another option is riding the Pigeon Forge Trolley. The Dollywood trolley begins at Patriot Park in Pigeon Forge where parking is free. The trip is 50¢ per person each direction. Trolleys run continuously from 30 minutes before Dollywood opens until everyone has left the park in the evening.

Operating hours for Dollywood on April 13 are 9:00 am – 8:00 pm.
