American Job Center Plans November Workshops

The American Job Center in Morristown plans free workshops in November that can assist job seekers with a job search. Workshops are funded by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Walters State Community College. 

This month, the Center plans a special series on employment and career decisions. A workshop with advice for adults returning to school will be at 10 a.m. or 5 p.m. on Nov. 16. The second session on quick reference study tips will be Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. and the final session, on life after graduation or completion of training, will be at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 30.

Other scheduled workshops are:
•American Job Center Orientation (learn about services available) –8:15 a.m. on Nov. 7, 14, 21 or 28 or 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 13.
•Second Chance Job Readiness Workshops (for those with a criminal record) – 10 a.m.-noon or 2-4 p.m. on Nov. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
•Job Readiness I (job search, resumes, interview techniques) – Nov. 7, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Job Readiness II (online applications, portfolio development, online job search) – Nov. 14, 9:30 a.m.-noon.
•Job Readiness III (interpersonal skills, job etiquette) – Nov. 21, 9:30 a.m.-noon.
•Job Readiness IV (career makeovers and transitions) – Nov. 28, 9:30 a.m.-noon.

The following workshops are scheduled by appointment and can be anytime between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday through Friday: email basics, internet basics, computer terminology, electronic spreadsheets and electronic presentations. 

The American Job Center, is located at 215 South Liberty Hill Road. The Center offers a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines. 

Representatives from many area agencies are located at the Center, including the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Tennessee College of Applied Sciences and the Adult Education Program. All services are available at no charge, including use of computer equipment and fax machines.
