Find a New (or Better) Job With These Workshops

Get a head start on your job search with free workshops at the American Job Center in Morristown. In addition to workshops, the Center offers free use of computers, Internet job search sites and job postings.

The Center offers free career coaching and mock interviews by appointment. The following classes are also offered by appointment: Email Basics, Internet Basics, Electronic Presentations, Electronic Spreadsheets, Word Processing and Computer Mouse Training.
February workshops are:
•Orientation (learn about services available) – 8:15-8:45 a.m., Feb. 6, 13, 20 or 27 or 4:30-5 p.m. Feb. 5.
•Second Chance Job Readiness (for individuals with a criminal record) – 10 a.m.-noon or 2-4 p.m., Feb. 5, 12 or 26.
•Job Readiness I (job search, resumes and cover letters, applications and interviewing techniques) – Feb. 5, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Job Readiness II (online applications, e-portfolio development, online marketing tools) – Feb. 13, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Job Readiness III (interpersonal skills, business etiquette and self-management tools, team work and office culture) – Feb. 20, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Job Readiness IV (making career transitions, communication skills) – Feb. 27, 9:30 a.m.-noon.
The workshops are funded through the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Workshops are provided by East Tennessee State University through an agreement with Walters State Community College.
