Do Some Spelunking with the Adventurers
February 22, 2018

The Walters State Adventures are going down under – to explore Worley’s Cave in Bluff City. Plan to join the fun on March 13. The trip leaves the campus at 2 p.m. and return at 10 p.m.

Technically, cave exploring is called spelunking and it gives adventurers a look into the amazing features under the earth.
“Spelunking is like exploring an entirely different world, complete with rock formations that have formed over the past million years. Everything is buried in complete darkness. So, we’re strapping headlights on and going under,” said Ryan Thiessen, visual coordinator for Walters State and trip coordinator.
The trip is safe, but it is not for individuals who have the slightest bit of claustrophobia. The group will spend four hours climbing and crawling through the cave, so a general level of fitness is required.

No experience is needed, and the cost for students is only $10, plus meal money.
